Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person. Colossians 4:6
Ok… so your opinion matters. I tell my students that unless you can back up your opinion with fact, it does not matter, which is true to a point. If you cannot justify or clarify your opinion, then why is it your opinion. That is true with your faith in Christ as well. You must know what you believe and why you believe it.
So many church goers today just take in what is taught and never weigh what they are learning against Scripture. Or they read a “Christian” Personal Growth book, but never really look to see if the author is taking Scripture our of context. This is a very dangerous practice. When that is the case, it would be easy for false teaching to enter into the church…. We each have the responsibility to filter the teachings we hear through Scripture.
Be a person in the Word. Study Scripture daily. By doing this, you can be prepared when you need to give an answer to what you believe and why you believe it, and not just a repeating of something someone else told you. Your opinion doesn’t matter… unless you back it up with fact. Know your facts and be ready to answer each one.
